Job Description

 

This position provides engineering project leadership and/or discipline support for various projects by researching, specifying, developing, designing, engineering, or testing components, equipment and/or systems.   

 

Responsibilities

  • Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • Designs and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
  • Develops applications of electrical control systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial uses.
  • Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and client requirements.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Works with clients to develop a project’s scope of work, estimates, and/or schedules.
  • Reviews and approves project drawings, standards and specifications.
  • Develops major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications.
  • Ensures that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations and laws.
  • Provides support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed.
  • Coordinates activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products or systems.
  • Provides technical direction, support and information to other engineers, designers and drafters.
  • Consistently demonstrates professional skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, communications, operational efficiencies, handling of a client’s changing needs, decision making, and analyzing and solving problems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working as an Electrical Engineer in the Oil & Gas industry.  
  • Advanced skillset with AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel required.

 

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, client, or employees of organization.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills:

Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; Outlook e-mail software; and any other discipline-specific design or analysis software, as required.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

This position is based in our Anchorage, Alaska office. However, most of the work activities may be performed as work-from-home. We will consider allowing work-from-home from locations within the United States outside of the immediate environs of Anchorage Alaska contingent upon demonstration that communications connectivity and other work-from-home elements meet our needs. Travel for site visits and in-person meetings is expected to be extremely infrequent.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and work in high, precarious places while working in the field.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, although fieldwork is sometimes moderately noisy.

Although expected to be very infrequent, travel overnight (or longer) to remote work locations may be required.
